Cold Spring
There are very few albums that literally intrigue me, but IFOTS’s “Behavioural Decline” is just such as a release. A heady mix of power electronics, and hateful blackened noise, this is the sound of nihilism in all its raging fury. I hate using easy points of reference, but what immediately springs to mind is mid-era Whitehouse. it has the same vicious spiteful “fuck you” attitude and sonically punishing power, it’s aurally destructive and is as skull-cleavingly ugly as a “fate-acc” road accident. It’s just what Dr Muttley ordered actually (grins evilly!).
As a second city son myself, I guess I have a tiny ‘wee’ interest (er… or bigger – Ed) in all things local (musically speaking), I hope to bring you more new talent from the home of metal (anyone else as excited as me by Beestung Lips?). Anyhow, I digress. IFOTS is actually a solo-project by a fellow simply known as ‘Lee’ (not a very Black Metal moniker methinks!), a man with a lot of weird shit buzzing around his cranial cavity! (can I borrow some please??? big twisted grin).
I think I’m correct in saying that this is the first full release on Cold Spring for IFOTS, I would love to hear something as nasty and head-rippingly in the ‘live-arena’… with the ‘pull’ that Mr Mitchell has on the UK underground extreme scene, perhaps he can persuade the gals at the Supersonic Festival to let this one man aural-terrorist mutilate our senses at this year’s glorious noise-fest? HINT! I for one will be watching this outfit with great interest. Well done for snapping IFOTS up Cold Spring, and job well done Lee! Are you paying for my new hearing aid between you Gentlemen?
