Editorial
Issue 15 - Where the Wild Things Are

Hello…

Just when you thought it was safe to ignore the underground’s grubbier little corners, back we come again.

I’ve a really frightening mountain of work to clear from my desk so I’ll not keep you – Issue 15 is a bit of an assault on the 2009’s Autumn and Winter, so forgive me if you’re reading this, it’s already 2010 and you’re clamouring for our ‘end of year’ lists – they’ll be with you in the first issue of 2010 ‘proper’, the date for which you can find below.

As in the previous editorial, it must be said that various factors have contrived to make H-Nox a less productive, efficient place over the past couple of months, so apologies to anyone who’s been kept waiting to hear our chin-strokingly profound verdicts on your musical oeuvre. I hope the quality of our turns of phrase make up for our lousy organisational skills.

I’ve re-arranged many of the aspects of, well, my life really, in order to make things run more smoothly in 2010, and as a result have a long list of ‘office days’, where you will catch me firmly entrenched behind my desk, putting each issue in order. A good 30% of these are weekdays, which I hope will make facilitating interviews a little easier. You all want to be onstage (or even in the crowd) on a Saturday night, and I somewhat object to setting my alarm for 4am to talk to someone on the other side of the world about the deeper meaning of corpse paint, so we’ll cut out the fuss by opening up the switchboard/skype account/ICQ on a range of days throughout the month, and meeting in the middle. I will post more details in time, but please, as always, hit me up at hierophantnox@gmail.com if there’s anything you want to know – my reply will have a panoply of alternative contact details at the end too.

There’s already an excitingly large box of promos awaiting my attention for Issue 16, including my favourite band Slagmaur, as well as actual handfuls of releases from No Colours Records and Painkiller/Apollon Records, some intimidating discs from Cold Spring which Muttley and I will divide between us (we’ll share the pillow to hide behind, don’t worry), and a whole host of the independent releases which make my postman nervous, so be sure to check back with us for our reviews. We’ve a strong collection of interviews in the pipeline as well as our first Special Feature of the year later in Jan, and of course, only because we HAVE to, we’ll let you know our favourite albums of 2009.

Thanks as always to the bands, labels and promoters who have supported us despite our wobbliness, and to the extreme metal fans who read our work and agree/disagree vocally, constantly, all the time, in my face. And a special thanks from me to Patricia Thomas, Bahn, Satanic Muttley, Helvetia, Paul, Simon M-J, the Daniels, Luci, Pete, Stephanie and Carrie and everyone else who believes, cheers, lends a hand, props me up, chats shit to me, posts things on Facebook that make me laugh…the general necessities of life.

Here’s to good times and a stronger zine in 2010,

Dark regards

Ellen
