Shipwrecked Sounds

Helvetia (Throne Ov Damnation/Earthwhore)

Every issue, we will be asking a different band or artist to reveal their Shipwrecked Sounds- the albums they would like to miraculously cling onto after being attacked by pirates at sea and washing up on an island…which magically has a hi-fi on it. This issue we reunited with Helvetia to find out what he would snatch from the icy waves, and found out that it would be best if he were very much ALONE on the island!!:

Endstille - Dominanz I remember being introduced to the title track, "Dominanz", and to this day, it still makes chills go down my spine. No other band could pull off the utterly disturbing sound Enstille creates. I am driven by their monotonous sound in many ways, especially upon this album; it has the most raw and horrifying sound that brings out the worst in me. Chainsaw guitars, a razor-sharp structure of immense drumming, and of course, disgusting vocal work in every way possible.

Arkhon Infaustus - Orthodoxyn. Arkhon Infaustus are one of a kind. A truly twisted mixture of blackened death metal. This is a very recent album of Arkhon, and it features their own signature sound - a wall of guitars, drumming of absolutely ridiculous speeds and pure blasphemic vocal work. This album has Black Metal’s old school sound, with its own twisted sound which speaks for itself, which can give a multitude of mind-fucks and hallucinations to the ear, especially in the track, “La Particule De Dieu” (Inside The Particle Of God)
                                                      mardukcover.jpg (13715 bytes)
Marduk - La Grand Danse Macabre. Here’s a classic piece of work right here. I’m a huge Marduk fan, and I really like their material. But La Grand Danse Macabre is just something else. Marduk and their signature melodic style of downright brutal Black Metal it its very best is all present in this one disc.

Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao. This album too is a recent composition. Another masterpiece from the Norwegian kings, Mayhem. After hearing this album, I was undergoing constant depressive mood related activity. It has a mental and physical effect over my body. My perception of everything has changed to this very day. This album is extraordinary, only those who have understood its craft really knows how it feels. This album is a living nightmare wrapped in barbed wire, and it will always haunt me. I cannot describe how this work makes me really feel, you will have to find out for yourself...

Slagmaur - Skrekk Lich Kunstler.
This is definitely the most disturbing album I own. Again, I’m finding it difficult to describe the significance and intricacy that is heard upon "Skrekk Lich Kunstler". I think the best way to describe both this album and Slagmaur, is like listening to an auditory Rorschach test - you perceive it in your own way, as a reflection to one’s feelings and emotions. For me, "Skrekk Lich Kunstler" is descending through one dank corridor leading to nowhere. You can only walk in one direction, and there is NO ‘happy ending’.
